Tips and advice
Installation advice engine:
1. Before installation, please check:
- If the supplied engine meets your engine/engine code.
- The supplied engine on possible (transport) damage
- If all agreements have been met
- All oil seals on leakage. In case of doubt: renew!
2. Extra points of interest / installation tips:
- Renew the ring under the oil drain plug.
- Replace oil and oil filter according to factory instructions and specifications.
- Pay attention to viscosity and amount.
- Replace timing belt and all tensioners (inclusive of water pump)
- In case the intake manifold has to be converted, make sure it is clean (it usually contains metal particles of the defective engine, these particles might damage the new engine as well).
- Check the cooling system for proper flow/leakage (upon installation, please check if the cooling fan motor fires).
- Avoid electric interference. Use as many electronic components as possible (e.g. cable tree, sensors etc.) that belong to the vehicle.
- Turbo engines: Make sure enough oil comes into the turbo and oil can easily flow away (for example think of a bent return pipe etc.). Make sure all suction tubes/hoses and intercooler are clean.
- Diesel engines with immobilizer on the fuel pump: entire pump or just the immobilizer must be converted.
- Pay attention to the dis- and assembly instructions according to factory instructions etc.
- Check the oil level after the test drive.
- Check the engine for possible leaks after the test drive
3. No guarantee on:
- The entire timing belt.
- Head gasket (in consultation).
- Leakage to water pump, hose package and oil seals.
- Flywheel and coupling (especially with two-mass flywheel)
- Consequential loss due to supplied turbo and/or fuel pump
Installation advice gearbox
1. Before installation, first check
- If the supplied gearbox meets your gearbox/gearbox code
- The supplied gearbox on possible (transport) damage
- If all agreements have been met
- All oil seals on leakage. In case of doubt: renew
- If available: the thrust bearing on noise and/or oil leakage.
2. Extra points of interest:
- When mounting AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ‘ALWAYS’ clean (e.g. flush) or replace the oil cooler and the pipes with respect to metal particles of the old gearbox.
- Make sure the system is clean. If not, these metal particles might damage the new gearbox again.
- Check if the oil fill and drain plug (if available) are tightened properly. Replace the gearbox oil according to factory instructions and specifications.
- Pay attention to viscosity and amount.
- Check the oil level after the test drive and check the gearbox on possible leaks.
- Pay attention to dis- and assembly instructions according to factory instructions etc.
3. Remark:
- No guarantee on thrust bearings and oil seals.

Assembly tips, cylinder head
1. Before installation, please check:
- If the supplied cylinder head meets the defective cylinder head
- Supplied cylinder head on possible (transport) damage
- If all agreements have been met
2. Assembly of cylinder head
- Never put the cylinder head on its head gasket surface. It might cause damage to fitting surface or valves.
- Find out the possible cause of the damage and solve it first.
- Check the cylinder walls and pistons on damage and coal residues. Clean and check all parts thoroughly.
- Check the head gasket surface of the bottom block on damage and deformation. Always use a new head gasket set inclusive of bolts and mount it according to the instructions.
- Attention: Make sure all signs are in the right direction and mount the new timing belt and rollers.
- Hydraulic tappets must rest at least 1 hour to adjust.
- For solid tappets / valve adjusting plates the valve clearance must be adjusted with an extra margin of 0,05mm.
- Once you have mounted the cylinder head and the timing belt you should first make two manual rotations to check if the valves don’t touch the pistons.
- Always replace oil, oil filters, thermostat and coolant according to manufacturer’s prescriptions. Check cooling system operating and possible leaks. The engine of an LPG installation should run on petrol during the first 1000 km. Then, the installation can be adjusted. Check all adjustments
Make a test drive and check everything again
Installation advice Turbo`s
Oil connections
Disassemble the oil supply- and drainage pipes and make sure they are carefully cleaned. Mount the pipes to the turbo, never use liquid gasket!!!
Don’t forget to renew the motor oil!!!
Air pipes
Always mount a new air pipe and clean the air intake pipe. If an intercooler has been mounted, possible oil residues must be removed. The pressure pipe must be carefully checked as well before it is cleaned.
Mounting to the manifold
Carefully check the exhaust manifold. It might contain metal remains. A manifold with cracks will damage the new turbo. Carefully check it.
Crankcase ventilation and motor condition
In many cases crankcase ventilation is connected to the turbo’s air supply pipe. A clogged crankcase ventilation causes oil discharge problems to the turbo. An engine in a bad condition causes crankcase vapours that are blown into the engine by the turbo. It causes incomplete combustion and smoke nuisance. Check both points.
Testing
- Start up the engine and let it idle.
- Check if sufficient engine oil is supplied to the turbo.
- Gradually increase the rpm and check all connections on possible leaks.
- Check all bolts when the engine is warm.

Installation instructions compressors
Maintenance and repair of an air-conditioning system may only be carried out by skilled technicians with STEK-recognition. First of all the cause of the damage to the old compressor must be determined and solved. Usually, it is not the compressor that causes the problem, but the airco system itself. Defective parts must be replaced. If the oil from the old compressor is not clean, rinsing is required. So, always take an oil sample of the old compressor. In case of internally polluted systems, the entire airco system must be rinsed with AC Flush Liquid, to make sure the new compressor won’t get clogged or worn. It is necessary to replace the filter drier / accumulator and the expansion level / orifice tube when mounting the new a/c compressor. The filter drier / accumulator is the last part that must be mounted. Vacuuming and filling straight afterwards. Before mounting the new a/c compressor, first check if it is filled with oil. Before filling the airco system vacuuming (at least 30 minutes) is required. Fill the airco system on the high pressure side to avoid liquid stroke. When mounting a new a/c compressor, switch on/off the airco system a couple of times.
